OpShop opened the night with a few catchy songs. I have to admit: I went there expecting very little from this local band (I've only ever heard of one of their songs "Maybe" on the radio), but was totally amazed at their talents. The lead singer/acoustic guitarist/electric guitarist/pianist (I later found out his name to be Jason Kerrison) was amazing, he did lead breaks on the synth, sang pretty well, and rocked like a true rockstar. heh. I hesitated in buying their album ($25) as I bought a Brooke Fraser t-shirt for 40 bucks. *a really cute one ler, picture in the near future*.
Brooke Fraser never fails to amaze me. Not only with her musicianship skills, but also with her randomness. How random? She rambled on about people eating placenta for prosperity the last time she performed at the town hall, and tonight explained why she was wearing bright red lipstick when she doesn't really wear that much make up at all ("I was invited to a party and dressed up as a menstrual PERIOD"). Long story though. She's just so down-to-earth, funny, talented, and beautiful any guy would be crazy not to want to know her. Sorry guys, she's engaged to be married early next year.

See somebody familiar? If no, look closer at the guitarist. If you're still blur, he's Nigel Hendroff, the legendary Hillsong electric guitarist in recent albums. I was so shocked when I saw him on stage, and almost thought that he is the guy Brooke Fraser is engaged to. One of the best guitarists around I reckon, and according to his wikipedia page, the guy has 10 freaking guitars. *jaw drops* He also has 14 pedals *jaw reaches the floor*. I still don't get guitarists and their fetish for pedals...
The red round things on stage are actually red lanterns hanging right in the middle of the stage during one of the songs, can't remember which one. So cool, eh. During "Deciphering Me", 6 transparent umbrellas hung down, such a pretty sight!
Brooke on the keys/acoustic guitar, Nigel H. on electric guitar, an Irish girl (Betty?) on synth, drummer from Detroit, and the bassist if I'm not mistaken is a Jap. All super cool musicians, I wonder how long will it take when I can even reach half their standard. All pictures except first one courtesy of Amy/Rob who sat (can you believe it) at the first row!!! Darn lucky Amy, Rob bought those tickets for her. Awwwww...
If I had to take only 2 memories home from my 3 years spent in NZ, it would have to be attending her concerts and awesome friends. =) That explains just how much I enjoy watching her and the band perform live. It's just indescribable. hehe.
I would strongly recommend anyone who enjoyed even 1 of her songs to go see her perform (don't know when, think she's off to the States after this tour). You won't regret it, seriously. That's coming from somebody who's been to both her concerts in 4 months time. =)

Hey I'm totally random here, but I totally feel what ya mean about Brooke. So looking forward to seeing her again next Friday at the Auck. concert. Went to her concert earlier this year and saw her before that in Dunedin when she toured her first album... ya cant get sick of her randomness aye... its what makes her Brooke Fraser.
yeah exactly... oh one more thing, she forgot the lyrics to the 2nd verse of "Arithmetic" and someone in the audience yelled it out to her. it was hilarious, yet very originally Brooke =)
