Never happier

Final exams in less than 2 weeks! During this time, MOST people are starting to freak out about the finals and whether or not they'll get into intended courses next year. Boy was I glad when a lecturer mentioned at the end of BIOC lecture this morning that "...those that don't get into Med or Dentistry, it's not the end of the world. You can also help those starving children, which I'm sure by doing so you'd help more people ever than being a doctor..." (something like that). *Teehee*. Sorry guys, but the kiasu attitude has got to go.

Anyway, this week marks the end of Biochem and Biology labs for me. *frowns* I felt that the labs were so much shorter this semester, and everything just happened at such a fast pace. I certainly did enjoy doing the glucose and cholesterol testing for both labs (and a big *phew* for not fainting at the sight of blood). However, the results weren't that good: my glucose level rose to 8.9mmol per L after having 2 bananas and a muesli bar. How weird is that? Hmm. Cholesterol level was pretty high too (6.34mmol per L), and it got me worried though I was told there could be experimental errors and the exact LDL/HDL concentration was not known yet. But still, I'd have to get a full blood test/medical checkup SOON just to make sure everything's alright, since my family do have a history of high cholesterol levels. Yikes.

The year's coming to an end, and here's a list of (some of the) good and bad decisions I've made throughout the year, just for keepsake purposes.

  • Given a choice to come study at Uni of Otago. A big move, definitely the right decision. I'm never happier. =)
  • Living at Studholme Hall. The activities, gatherings, competitions, cool chants, what else can you wish for?! I'll miss my room and the hall heaps when I move out next year.
  • First major bad decision. Trusting someone I shouldn't, and ending up getting my heart broken, hurting other people in the process as well. All's well now, time heals, and I learnt a lot too.
  • Playing the synth/keyboard for Nations Christian Church. A truly blessed opportunity.
  • Going to Queenstown for the weekend during Sept. AWESOME experience, looking forward to going back for more adrenaline-pumping activities and beautiful scenery.
  • My 19th birthday celebration. No decision made here, mostly by my superb friends who planned it all. Thanks soooo much!
  • Learning guitar and polishing up keyboarding skills. Music paper didn't exactly help, though I know more about intervals now. :/
  • Meeting the people I call friends now, and knowing that they will always be there beside me, no matter what happens. Nothing beats that. =D
