where's ur peace, mate?

Mah shalomkah?

It means "how is your peace?" Sounds odd, but that's the topic of the sermon in my church this morning.

Peace. Simple word with a deep meaning. From the moment we're born to the moment we breathe our very last breath, we search for peace. People earn big bucks, live a comfortable life, find love, build a family, all for the purpose of finding that inner peace. Even now when the world is in chaos with the New Orleans hurricane, continuous war, racism, poverty, and other natural disasters, peace seems like a fairytale ending that's impossible to achieve.

Perhaps we're searching for it in the wrong place. What's more, it's already been given to us by God, but we can't see that inner peace because our lives are too busy, hectic, and crowded.

Peace is not found in those topical beaches or in Hawaii where everything seems too good to be true. Peace is not about not worrying about anything. Peace does not mean no tests, exams, or assignments.

Peace means that even when there's war going on in front of your doorstep, you remain calm. Peace means that when the seas are rough and waves are huge, a seagull soars high above the skyline, free. Peace means when your live is turned upside down and you don't think it's being fair to you, you still comfort others and tell them that it's not too bad- things will get better. Peace is found when you don't give up when the world has given up on you.

Peace means giving thanks for the breath you take in now. Stop for a moment and know that your next breath is controlled by God.

Finally, a simple memory verse which reminds us to stop worrying about anything because our Father is greater that EVERYTHING.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:6-7)"

May the peace of God be with you all. =)
