Photos up soon, I promise!
The first day of Chinese New Year is truly the busiest day of 2007 so far. I woke up at freaking 5.30am as church service started at 7am. What's more, I was on duty to play the keyboards, again. And then I did something soooooooooooo embarrassing. Probably one of the most embarrassing moments I've ever experienced before.
On Thursday night, we practised the songs to sing on Sunday morning. I knew only about half the songs as many were Chinese songs unknown to me. Also, there was no guitarist playing to back up the keyboards! Thank goodness for Simon the bassist for keeping me on track!
Anyway, come Sunday morning and the first song was an improvised Chinese New Year song. I was supposed to play and intro before the singers came in. And then the worst of the worse happened.
I froze.
That's the worse part. The worst part was when I played the intro in a different key once. And somebody told me it was in another key instead. And then I switched key, but somehow totally forgotten the melody of the intro!
The 1 minute or so I spent figuring out how to play the intro was the longest minute in my life EVER. The whole congregation of over 100 people just stared at me, wondering what the heck is the silly girl doing.
I didn't know how I made it through, but I'm glad that it's over. What I still don't know is, why did I freeze at the very last minute?! I used to be able to transpose a song in less than 5 seconds plus the melody, but on that particular occasion, I freaked. Yes, it was THAT bad.
Anyways, tomorrow is the big visiting day with the youth. Looking forward to it. Also, a HUGE 50th birthday to the greatest dad I could ever ask for! =)
